According to a new study by the University of Missouri, one in three people has "rebound sex" within a month of a break-up.
The person who was dumped is more likely to have "rebound sex" than the person who ended the relationship.
"People really do use sex as a way to get over [a break-up] or get back at their ex," researchers said. "Google 'rebound sex' or 'revenge sex.' You wouldn't believe how much stuff is on the Internet about it."
The study was unable to make a connection between "rebound sex" and benefits in getting over a failed relationship. In other words, it may make the person feel better, worse, or no differently.
