System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian is making it clear that the band doesn't have a new album in the works.
Rumors to the contrary began after drummer John Dolmayan announced during the band's Monday night show at the Hollywood Bowl that they would have a new album by the time they returned to the Los Angeles venue. But Tankian clarified during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit Wednesday that he and his bandmates "have not yet agreed on a timetable for another record due to its time commitments."
Tankian added that they "really appreciate" the fact that fans are eagerly waiting the band's follow-up to 2005's double album "Mesmerize/Hypnotize." But he says they have to make a record when they think it's time, "not anyone else."
System of a Down will be following their one-off L.A. show with an appearance at Russia's Kubana festival next Wednesday. There are so far no plans to play another U.S. show this year.
